Lampooning of U.S. Healthcare is Just What the Doctors Ordered - National Lampoon Press Release

Robodoc DVD release Sleazy lawyers and heartless insurance companies are only a few of those spoofed in National Lampoon Presents RoboDoc, coming to DVD on November 24th. Penned and produced by two practicing medical doctors and brothers, Doug and Scott Gordon, the film takes aim at what is ailing our modern healthcare system, and proposes a unique solution: Robotic doctors.

"It's so easy to get overwhelmed by roiling healthcare debate," says Tom Daniels, National Lampoon's president of distribution, who bought the right to distribute the film long before the issue became so prominent. "Everyone's timing was great on this," he added, "ROBODOC is a great way to laugh instead of scream 'make it stop!'"

According to Dr. Doug Gordon, "This movie is our way of making a statement from the inside. It is my hope that laughter could be the best medicine for America's healthcare delivery system." Dr. Scott Gordon takes it a bit further, "With increasing government and health insurance bureaucracy, decreased reimbursements and increasing patient loads, we predict there will be a severe physician shortage that will ultimately only be overcome by the widespread use of robotic doctors. We can only hope they will be as good as RoboDoc."

National Lampoon Presents RoboDoc stars Alan Thicke (Growing Pains), David Faustino (Married with Children), David DeLuise (Wizards of Waverly Place), Corin Nemec (Parker Lewis Can't Lose), Michael Winslow (Police Academy), John Byner (Soap) and features William Haze (One Tree Hill) as RoboDoc. The film was co-produced by Donald Tynes and directed by Stephen Maddocks. RoboDoc is being distributed by National Lampoon. Star-ving

Having been screwed out of “Married ... with Children” residuals by his convalescent manager, David “Bud Bundy” Faustino is now a pathetic, washed-up porn store proprietor. Star-ving follows his attempt at regaining stardom. Bringing along his old buddy, Corin Nemec (“Parker Lewis Can’t Lose”), Faustino gets attacked by an angry black mob, reunites with his “Married ... with Children” cast members, kidnaps Alan Thicke, steals money from Coolio, and kills Gilbert Gottfried’s 34-year-old mentally challenged son - all to get back into the Hollywood game.

Parker Lewis Can't Lose

For most teenagers, high school is filled with obstacles nearly impossible to traverse. But then there is Parker Lewis (Corin Nemec), the one teenager able to overcome any barrier with the use of his wits and the help of his best buds, rock n roller Mikey (William Jayne) and their quintessential nerd assistant Jerry (Troy Slaten). Of course, that does not mean Principal Grace Musso (Melanie Chartoff) will give up her attempts to foil the Buds' plans to maintain total coolness!

High Hopes

Hollywood hopeful Tom Murphy and his roommates are pinning their hopes of industry success on Tom's famous girlfriend starring in their first feature. When she dumps him, their plan falls to pieces. Tom and his pals devise a plan to steal a fenced case of government issued marijuana, return it to the FBI and use the reward money to finance their movie. Little do they know a scorned girlfriend and her deaf mute brother have other plans.

The Stand

A mishap at a biological weapons lab unleashes a deadly virus nicknamed "Captain Trips." Cop Dog

Robbie North's (Billy Unger) life sucks. His father, a police officer with the K-9 unit, fell down a well and croaked but nobody seems to care but him. His mom is getting sick of taking him to visit his dad's grave every day and wants to ship him off to an ominous school called Walden Pines. For a brief moment, things start to look up for Robbie when he adopts his Dad's old partner... a dog named Marlowe (Kuma the dog). Robbie is hopeful that Marlowe's crime fighting skills will help him resolve some lingering questions about Dad's demise.

Solar Crisis

When a massive solar flare threatens to fry the Earth, astronauts must undertake a daring mission to the Sun to divert the flare with an antimatter bomb. IXL Corp CEO Teague (Peter Boyle) is out to sabotage the mission and buy up most of the earth's resources while the world is distracted by possible armageddon. While Steve Kelso (Tim Matheson) commands the mission to the sun, Admiral Skeet Kelso (Charlton Heston) is searching the desert for grandson Mike (Corin Nemec) who's gone AWOL from military school and fallen into the hands of IXL henchmen.
