This film really markets itself as a star studded film, or at least stars that you probably once had heard of. In addition to the main cast, we get brief appearances from Edward Furlong (Terminator 2 and American History X), Lacey Chabert (Mean Girls and Party of Five), Andy Dick (The Andy Dick Show), Danny Trejo (nearly every Robert Rodriguez film) and even Robert Rodriguez himself. Their appearances are all brief, but pretty good.
The film starts off pretty well. The dialogue is sharp and the performances are pretty good. When the plot to steal the pot unfolds, though, the film loses a couple of steps from its momentum. It starts to drag a bit. The real charm of the film is the dialogue and each character’s individual dilemma. Tom (Corin Nemec) has a hilarious subplot of conning his way into a role into the new James Bond film, meanwhile Ben (David Faustino) is stuck watching his girlfriend’s brother Wendell (James Marsden) who nobody can figure out what exactly is wrong with him. When these characters are doing their own thing, it’s some pretty funny stuff.
